A Facebook page launched by Haifa resident Nimrod Zuta, 24, urging Americans in Israel to support Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has taken off, gaining thousands of followers in only three months.

The "Trump White & Blue" page has attracted some 8,000 followers so far.

Zuta, a political activist and "internet maven," says he created the page to tell Israelis the truth about Trump. "The media outlets in the United States, like in Israel, don't give proper coverage to Trump, and they try to make a big deal out of every slip of the tongue and to turn it into a campaign against him," he said.

"When the media work to turn public opinion against him, they see all means as kosher."

Zuta said he expects to see a total of about 12,000 followers for his page before the end of August.

Michal Adar, manager of public relations and online marketing firm Adar Media, who has worked with the Republican Party both during this election and the past one, recognized the potential of Zuta's page.

She put him in touch with representatives of the Republican Party in Israel, including Marc Zell, who is the co-chairman of Republicans Abroad Israel and the vice president of the Republicans Overseas organization.

Working together, they hope to engage Israelis eligible to vote in the U.S. elections. "There are tens of thousands of people living in Israel who are eligible to vote in the American presidential elections," Adar said. "Our goal with the 'Trump White & Blue' Facebook page is to find Israelis eligible to vote and to guide them through the election process."
