Dr. Miriam and Sheldon Adelson donated approximately 1.25 million shekels toward establishing a new ambulatory care wing at the Reuth Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Tel Aviv. The wing is expected to open within a month. The full cost of building the wing is about 2 million shekels, with the remaining sum donated by the estate of Arnold and Anna Spiegler, for whom the wing will be named. The wing will include an expansion of Reuth's outpatient center, which is already the largest of its kind in Israel. The new wing will allow treatment for 120 patients at a time, compared with its previous capacity of 80 patients. A center for patients suffering from chronic pain syndromes will operate out of the new wing, as well as the National Center for the Treatment of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and other clinics. The building project includes advanced rehabilitation equipment, and going forward, the possibility of adding an even wider range of services will be reviewed. The project is designed as part of an effort to encourage the development of services that allow ongoing treatment for members of the greater public. Reuth Medical and Rehabilitation Center Director Dr. Dov Albukrek said, "In the name of the Reuth Center's management, I would like to thank the Adelsons for their generous, important and meaningful donation toward the advancement of the Reuth Center. "This donation, which joins the donation from the estate of the Spieglers, of blessed memory, will help us provide advanced, multidisciplinary rehabilitative medical treatment for thousands of patients each year." The Adelson family owns the company that is the primary shareholder in Israel Hayom.
