Four Israeli soldiers were injured in a training accident in the Golan Heights on Monday when their armored personnel carrier overturned. One soldier was seriously injured, while the three others sustained light injuries. According to an Israel Defense Forces statement, the accident took place around 9 a.m. during a routine training exercise for reservists with the Central Command's 340th Division. The drill was being held in a military facility in the northwest Golan Heights. Three of the injured soldiers were airlifted to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, and the fourth was taken to the Ziv Medical Center in Safed. The soldier who was seriously injured was admitted to Rambam sedated and on a respirator. Rambam's trauma chief, Dr. Hani Bachus, said the soldier was in serious but stable condition with chest injuries. The training exercise was halted after the accident, and senior officers arrived at the scene. The soldiers received another briefing on safety protocols, and the exercise resumed on Monday afternoon. The IDF has launched an investigation into the incident, saying it will examine the circumstances leading up to the accident, including the speed in which the APC was traveling, whether it hit something on the ground that caused it to overturn, and whether the soldiers followed both navigation orders and safety protocols. Monday's accident followed a similar incident on Sunday during which a soldier was lightly injured when the APC in which he was traveling overturned during a training exercise in the Jordan Valley.
