Everyone is in the crosshairs

Players from Germany's World Cup championship squad may just hang up their boots until further notice. The terror running roughshod across the continent, of which they received a bitter taste last Friday night at the Stade de France Stadium in Paris, paid them another visit Tuesday night, this time at home, in Hanover.
But the big story goes beyond the diverse range of jihadist activity and the ease with which the Islamic State group has activated its terrorist networks in Brussels, Sinai, Paris and now Hanover -- it is about the means being employed.
Last weekend the French saw bomb belts explode in Paris and innocent civilians massacred; like we ourselves have seen here in Israel. Paris experienced what we have been experiencing for a long time now.
We always said that terrorism was a global problem. Now Europe is seeing just how right we were, to our sorrow. Europe is on pins and needles. Everyone is in the crosshairs. After the Stade de France last Friday, now the stadium in Hanover was evacuated. And to think, the second most important soccer tournament in the world, the European Cup, is taking place this summer. It's entirely uncertain that the players who helped their teams qualify are sleeping well at night. Today Europeans are realizing that a bomb can go off anywhere and at any time. And what was their crime to deserve this? They are infidels. The jihadists are reintroducing us to an age of darkness that we hoped had passed from this world. ISIS wants to usher us into the seventh century and the age of the caliphates.
The scariest thing isn't even the infinite number of jihadists ISIS has at its disposal, but the unacceptable ease with which they plan and coordinate their attacks.
We are not alone, but this provides little comfort. Today more than ever, this wicked group, for which the end always justifies the means, must be wiped out.
It is incredible to see the public places in Paris devoid of visitors. It is stupefying to see Hanover shut down. And to think that just a few short years ago, U.S. President Barack Obama called ISIS the junior varsity squad.
