IDF declares war on nude soldier photographs

Racy photos of scantily clad female IDF soldiers have been circulated around the web • IDF vows to work to eliminate the "worrying" trend via educational activities on bases, saying the behavior is "inconsistent" with IDF values.

Following the recent online publication of photos of scantily clad female Israel Defense Forces soldiers on a base in the country's south, the trend has gone viral, with both male and female soldiers circulating dozens of similar photos on social networks over the past few days. The IDF said the "mischievous" behavior was a worrying trend that must be ended.

The unnamed recruits were reportedly disciplined for "tarnishing the image of the Israeli Defense Forces" by posing in G-strings while standing in the middle of their southern Israeli base. But despite being punished, the girls apparently posted even more semi-naked pictures on Facebook, this time with their army-issued assault rifles.

The IDF has decided to include the subject in educational programs that all soldiers take part in. It will be explained to soldiers that such behavior is inappropriate and inconsistent with the values of the IDF.

"These are cases that contradict IDF values and the behavior expected of IDF soldiers," the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said on Tuesday. "The IDF will continue to work to eliminate such occurrences, by instilling IDF norms through educational activities at bases."

Racy photos of IDF soldiers have made waves in the international media, with such photos appearing in newspapers in countries such as China, Germany, Britain and the U.S. over the past week.
