The half-brother of U.S. President Barack Obama has announced his support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in an interview with The New York Post Sunday. Malik Obama, 58, told The Post he likes Donald Trump because "he speaks from the heart." He said, "'Make America Great Again' is a great slogan. I would like to meet him." Malik said he supported the Democratic party in the past, but now feels "deep disappointment" with his brother's administration. Malik said the final straw was when FBI Director James Comey recommended the Justice Department not prosecute democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for her use of a personal email server during her tenure as secretary of state. "She should have known better as the custodian of classified information," said Obama. Malik also expressed frustration with the assassination of Libyan President Moammar Gadhafi, whom he called one of his best friends. Gadhafi was assassinated by rebel forces following an uprising that won U.S. support when Clinton served as secretary of state. Malik dedicated his 2012 biography of his father, "Barack Obama Sr.: The Rise and Life of a True African Scholar," to Gadhafi and others who were "making this world a better place." "I still feel that getting rid of Gadhafi didn't make things any better in Libya," he said. "My brother and the secretary of state disappointed me in that regard." Married to three wives Malik noted he was most concerned by Democratic support for same-sex marriage. "I feel like a Republican now because they don't stand for same-sex marriage, and that appeals to me," he said. Malik himself is married to three wives. He married his third wife in 2011. She was 19 at the time. Malik plans to be in the U.S. to vote for Trump in the presidential election in November. The president's half-brother now lives in Kogelo, a rural village in Kenya, but for years lived in Maryland, where he worked as an accountant and is registered to vote. Malik, who was Obama's best man at his wedding, said he last spoke to the president a year ago. Malik said he is angry at his brother for not helping him when he was running for governor of Siaya County in Kenya three years ago. Malik lost the race after investing $20,000 of his own money. "I don't think politics is my thing," he told The Post. "Honestly, I'll be happy when my brother is out of office, and I will finally be out of the limelight and be able to live like a human being."
