The city of Jerusalem is naming an intersection in east Jerusalem in honor of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's late father, Professor Benzion Netanyahu.
The intersection links the sprawling neighborhood of Pisgat Zeev to a highway that passes through the West Bank to Tel Aviv.
Benzion Netanyahu, a respected professor of Jewish history, died a year ago at age 102.
In a statement, the Jerusalem municipality described the late professor as a "great, unusual personality who for more than a century accompanied the battle to establish the State of Israel."
Israeli streets are commonly named after deceased politicians and cultural figures.
Netanyahu's office said the prime minister would attend the dedication ceremony Sunday.
