JDate poll: 82% of women think flirting online constitutes cheating

Poll, conducted in honor of International Women's Day, finds that both sexes have become more liberal when it comes to meeting multiple potential partners online, but more conservative when it comes to actual relationships.

A recent poll conducted by the popular international online Jewish dating service JDate in honor of International Women's Day has found some surprising facts about men and women looking for love in the digital age.

According to the poll, which included 2,700 participants, both sexes have become more sexually open and liberal when it comes to meeting potential partners online. When it comes to relationships, the prominent trend is skewed toward conservatism.

For example, 62 percent of the women polled were willing to maintain online contact with more than one man simultaneously "to see what works out," but were only willing to date one man at a time. Among the men, 34% believed that a man should only focus on one woman rather than contacting several simultaneously.

While 82% of the women thought that "flirting online constitutes cheating," only 56% of the men polled agreed. In addition, 78% of the men felt that on a first date, it should be the man who pays and 55% of the women noted that they expected the man to pay on a first date.

Equality marked a victory in the finance department, with 57% of the women and 61% of the men stating that they didn't care who the principal breadwinner in the relationship was. And another encouraging finding: 61% of the women said that they would not consider getting back together with an ex just to avoid being single. Only 44% of the men said the same.
