Adelsons give $50 million to Las Vegas Jewish day school

Dr. Miriam Adelson: "I wanted to develop a learning environment like my alma mater, the Reali School in Haifa, where I studied for 12 years" • "The school not only had high academic standards but also instilled values and friendships for life."

The Adelson Educational Campus in Las Vegas announced over the weekend that Dr. Miriam and Sheldon Adelson are contributing $50 million to the school. The campus consists of three schools catering for about 600 students, from age 18 months to 12th grade.

"When Sheldon and I first discussed creating the Adelson Educational Campus, I said that I wanted to develop a learning environment like my alma mater, the Reali School in Haifa, Israel, where I studied for 12 years from ages 6 to 18," Dr. Miriam Adelson said in a statement. "It was an institution that not only had high academic standards but also instilled values and friendships for life. A school, in my opinion, should always be about more than just grades and matriculation; it should also provide children with cherished memories and roots in a community. I'm gratified to see that the Adelson Campus now offers those experiences to its students, giving them a sense of belonging and personal history."

School principal Paul Schiffman thanked the Adelsons for their donation, saying it would allow the school "to move forward and enable us to fulfill our educational mission with even greater freedom and imagination."

"With this donation, my hope is that the school will continue to be a home for generations," said Dr. Adelson.

Sheldon and Dr. Miriam Adelson own the company that is the primary shareholder of Israel Hayom.
