Israels skyline will soon get an upgrade in the form of a soaring, 70-story building that will become the countrys tallest skyscraper and one of the tallest in the Middle East. The new high rise will be built at the entrance to the city of Givatayim in central Israel, on the border with Tel Aviv. Dozens of floors will be used for commercial purposes and as a hotel. The entire building is expected to take up a total area of 84,200 square meters (90,6321 square feet) and will be built on a two-and-a-half-acre plot of land. At 70 stories, the tower will break the Israeli record for tallest building, currently held by the 68-story Moshe Aviv Tower in Ramat Gan. The building will be situated between Shefa Tal St. and Arvei Nahal St. in Givatayim, near the Ayalon highway. Its business complex will be built in close proximity to the Israel Diamond Exchange in Ramat Gan, just a few minutes walk from Tel Avivs central train station. The Interior Ministry sought to ensure that the approved construction plan would not harm the surrounding public spaces for pedestrians and cyclists, and that special pedestrian crossings would be designated around the construction site. The tower project was initiated by the Eurocom communications group under the leadership of businessman Shaul Elovitch. It was designed by the architectural firm Amnon Shwartz, which was also behind the design of some of the most prominent buildings in Israels skyline, including the Moshe Aviv Tower. Israels new tower will join the prestigious league of tall skyscrapers in the Middle East, topped by the worlds tallest man-made structure, the Burj Khalifa building in Dubai which rises to more than 800 meters (2,624 feet).

New 70-story tower to break record set by 68-story Moshe Aviv tower in Ramat Gan • Skyscraper to be used for commercial and hotel purposes; to be built near the Israel Diamond Exchange and the Tel Aviv central train station.
