At just 16, Delalin Destao is channeling the hardships he faced as an orphan to help others in his situation.

Destao, a 10th grade student in the northern city of Afula, uploaded a touching post to his Facebook page detailing his life story and announcing the establishment of a new organization to assist orphaned children.

Born in Ethiopia, Destao lost his parents when he was just two years old and was adopted by an uncle. After nine years of trying, when Destao turned 12, he and his uncle received the long-awaited news that they could come to Israel.

"After speaking about myself, I am turning to you, people of Israel," Destao wrote in his Facebook post.

"From my experience as an orphaned child, life is not simple, even challenging. I created an organization for orphaned kids and in my vision the organization will run seminars and activities for those kids to essentially try filling the giant void left in their lives."

Destao concluded his post with a plea for support from professionals who can help him realize his vision.
