The Palestinian Health Ministry on Thursday said six protesters were wounded during a solidarity demonstration in Judea and Samaria in support of Palestinian prisoners currently staging a hunger strike in Israeli jails.

It was the latest rally in support of hundreds of security prisoners held by Israel currently staging an open-ended strike, now in its 26th day.

The ministry said Israeli forces fired low-caliber bullets at protesters, who sustained minor injuries to their legs. The ministry added that several Palestinians threw rocks at Israeli soldiers.

The Palestinians have said the strike seeks to improve the inmates' prison conditions.

Israel has said strike leader Marwan Barghouti, a convicted Fatah terrorist serving five life terms, is using the strike for personal political gain.

Earlier this week, Israel released footage showing Barghouti breaking his fast, snacking on a candy bar. Palestinians called the video a fabrication.
