WATCH: Teaching resilience in the face of trauma

What is the role of social workers in responding to trauma? • How can victims be helped as quickly as possible? • Drs. Lynn Levy and Rozetta Schaeffer speak with host Steve Ganot about an innovative approach to intervention during a traumatic event.

This week, 10 exceptional students from Yeshiva University's Wurzweiler School of Social Work took part in an intensive course on trauma, emergency response and recovery at Tel-Hai College.

A collaboration between Wurzweiler and the Tel-Hai College Social Work Department, the program featured lectures and workshops on trauma intervention, site visits to Israeli agencies that provide advanced trauma care, meetings with social workers and other mental health professionals on the Michve Alon army base, and a real-time emergency response simulation with military and civil defense personnel.

Students were exposed to the Six C's model for immediate intervention during the acute phase of a traumatic event, developed by Dr. Moshe Farchi, director of Stress, Trauma and Resilience Studies at Tel-Hai College.

In this episode of Israel Hayom Insider, Wurzweiler faculty members Dr. Lynn Levy and Dr. Rozetta Schaeffer speak with Opinion Editor Steve Ganot about this groundbreaking course.
