Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders is once again in hot water over the anti-Israel sentiment in his campaign. His newly appointed Jewish outreach director, Simone Zimmerman has engaged in anti-Israel activities and wrote a critical, and profane, Facebook post last year slamming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

On March 3, 2015, following Netanyahu's controversial address to a joint meeting of Congress that day, Zimmerman wrote a Facebook post saying: "Bibi Netanyahu is an arrogant, deceptive, cynical, manipulative a--hole. ... F--- you, Bibi, for daring to insist that you legitimately represent even a fraction of the Jews in this world."

Zimmerman also claimed that Netanyahu's speech before Congress, in which he focused almost entirely on the dangers of a nuclear Iran, was designed to "distract the world from the fact that you sanctioned the murder of over 2,000 people this summer [referring to Operation Protective Edge in 2014], that a brutal military occupation of millions more continues under your watch, and that you are spending time and money on ridiculous campaign opportunities like this instead of actually working to address the real need of your own people."

Later Zimmerman edited out the profanities but left the remainder of the text.

Zimmerman is a supporter of the BDS movement and has taken part in efforts to smear Israel. According to the Washington Free Beacon, "Zimmerman promoted a play called 'Martyr's Street,' whose plot compares an Israeli settler to a Hamas bomb-maker. While a student at Berkeley in 2012, she signed a letter criticizing the University of California system for issuing a report about anti-Semitism on UC campuses. The next year, Zimmerman wrote an op-ed calling on Hillel International, a national Jewish student organization, to sponsor campus events promoting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement, which seeks Israel's destruction."

Last week, Sanders came under fire for saying Israel killed more than 10,000 people during Operation Protective Edge. He also said he had no opinion on whether Israel should withdraw to the 1967 borders.
