In potentially humiliating news for Hezbollah, Lebanese and Syrian news outlets reported on Tuesday that the Shiite terrorist organization's counterintelligence apparatus was investigating whether Mustafa Mughniyeh, the youngest son of the group's former operations commander Imad Mughniyeh, worked as a mole for the CIA and Israeli intelligence.

Imad Mughniyeh was assassinated in Damascus in 2008. His other son, Jihad, was assassinated in January 2015 when, according to foreign reports, a missile fired by an Israeli helicopter struck his convoy on the Syrian Golan Heights.

The revelation, if true, could be devastating for Hezbollah.

Mustafa Mughniyeh, according to reports, has been arrested due to the allegations against him and is being interrogated by Hezbollah's counterintelligence unit.

It was also reported that Hezbollah was refusing to comment on the matter.
