After a public outcry, retail giant Amazon on Thursday removed a selection of items featuring a bloodstained Israeli flag that had been offered for sale on its website. The products, which included books, CDs, mobile phone cases, umbrellas, doormats, pillow covers and shower curtains, had been available for purchase with prices ranging from $8 to $35. Israel is the only country in the world whose degraded, bloodstained flag is up for sale on Amazon -- but, according to the website, the products cannot be shipped to Israel. The products drew broad criticism, with many Amazon customers expressing their outrage on the website for advertising the products, describing them as portraying "pure anti-Semitism." Amazon has yet to issue a formal statement about removing the products. However, one of the company's representatives told an angry client that Amazon was no longer selling the products. "The products were sold via a third party. We have removed the purchase link and the products will no longer be available on the website," the representative said.
