A group of lawmakers, representing various opposition parties, urged Culture and Sport Minister Limor Livnat (Likud) and Sports Gambling Commission Chairman Tzahi Fishbein to put an immediate end to a recent campaign promoting legal horse betting. In a letter addressed to Livnat and Fishbein, 10 MKs called for an immediate halt to the campaign aimed at boosting sales of recently approved horse-racing gambling products. "Over the past several days, a massive campaign has been launched. Its goal is to encourage the public to participate in horse betting overseas," wrote the MKs. "Calling on the public to use its money on horse races violates Israel's animal cruelty laws in a most egregious way."
