TripAdvisor ranks Yad Vashem as one of world's top museums

The TripAdvisor web site ranked Yad Vashem fourth among the world's 25 most important museums • The museum was also awarded a Traveler's Choice 2013 award on the site.

The Yad Vashem Holocaust museum has been ranked fourth of the 25 best museums in the world by TripAdvisor, a leading travel website that crowdsources criticism and reactions of tourists from around the world.

"Very moving and inspirational, should be a lesson to us all, may it never happen again," one visitor to the site wrote. "We should never forget what this nation went through."

"The displays are moving and informative, they will stay with you long after you leave this place," another visitor wrote. "You may find yourself emotionally spent after you finish, but that is to be expected. But, you will take away a resolve that this cannot be permitted to happen to any race, anywhere, ever again."

Yad Vashem was also a Traveler's Choice 2013 winner on the site. The award is only granted to institutions that consistently receive outstanding reviews and have an average rating of more than four out of five stars.

In addition, Yad Vashem is ranked first of the 146 sites recommended to visit in Jerusalem. Yad Vashem is visited by almost a million yearly, most of them tourists. Recently, a new exhibit opened at Yad Vashem entitled "I am my brother's keeper," dedicated to non-Jewish rescuers during the Holocaust.

Yad Vashem continues to help the public fill out pages of testimony, with the help of volunteers throughout Israel. The pages of testimony are special forms that help reconstruct and the identities and life stories of the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust and make them available on a public online database.
