Palestinian youngsters, and even Israeli Arabs, have been stabbing Jews in the streets for three weeks now, yet a Knesset member from the Zionist Union party, Eitan Cabel, told Channel 2's Meet the Press on Saturday that he is most frightened by Jews. After all, the esteemed MK gets along just fine with Arabs, just like his party throughout the years. Relations with the Arabs back in the day -- when Labor was in power -- were so good that it became impossible to make peace with the Arabs. Peace, we all know, is made with enemies. The attempt by some politicians and media pundits to once again turn the Palestinians into the victim is both incredible and outrageous, while painting Israelis -- the ones being stabbed -- as the aggressor. The internet is awash with people "despairing" over Palestinian suffering, the occupation, the settlements, and also about their order of shrimp that wasn't served at the proper temperature. The occupation is ruining our food as well. How exasperating indeed that we Israelis are so awful, racist, brutish and dangerous. How could we drive these knife and screwdriver-wielding folk to this point? How did we turn these youngsters, innocent as lambs, into bloodthirsty terrorists who aren't afraid of dying? We did it in the past, and now we're doing it again, before Oslo and after. And how could we have enslaved another people after the establishment of the state, but also before- Wait, before? How is that possible? Because then, too, there was terror, but there was no occupation. Perhaps our "tab" was already running. There is just one problem with the distorted claim that the occupation is the reason for terror: The people don't buy it. They don't they buy it because it's simply not true. Terror was here before the occupation -- and nothing can assure us it won't be here after it. Quite the opposite, actually -- see Gaza. Terror continues to run amok because of wanton incitement; but also because of the severe violence surrounding us in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya. The blade with which the Arab teenager in Jerusalem attacks his Jewish victim is precisely the same blade used to behead the Jewish journalist, Daniel Pearl. The blade that attacked Jews in Raanana is the same blade the Islamic State group uses to sever heads in Syria. It's not me who is saying this, rather French intellectual Bernard-Henri L vy, a card-carrying member of the peace camp. Wait, he doesn't understand what's going on, either? He knows how dangerous it is to offer explanations, to show understanding toward acts of terror. He realizes this only encourages and galvanizes the next attacker. L vy is going against the trend of enlightenment, which can also be found in Israel. "Enlightenment" -- even if it comes at the expense of truth. When this wave of terror passes -- and the sooner the better -- we will again be able to look back and recognize the significant contribution made by Arab MKs to all that transpired. We will see how they didn't help lower the flames, and how they hurt their own constituency by refusing to do so. MK Ahmad "I am the sovereign" Tibi fosters suspicions between the two populations, living side by side in these trying times. From the perspective of the Arab MKs, the conflict could be nationalistic, religious, or territorial -- as long as there is conflict. They aren't the ones paying the price; it is the restaurant owner, doctor, academic, engineer, nurse and pharmacist, who all of a sudden are struggling to find work because Israelis are wary. For Tibi, that's not a problem. His paycheck comes like clockwork. Tibi is convinced that he lives in a very imperfect democracy, but what does he care? It's a democracy that pays, perhaps the only Western democracy that pays inciters. There can be no more doubt -- some of us are completely lost!
