Search engine giant Google's latest acquisition may put a strain on family gatherings in the Zuckerberg household. On Tuesday, Google purchased advertising software company Wildfire, which boasts, among its 400 employees, two family members of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Google placed itself in direct competition with its chief business rival, social network behemoth Facebook, in 2011, when it launched its own social network, Google Plus.

But now the rivalry has taken a twist – Arielle Zuckerberg, Mark's youngest sister, works as a junior product manager for Wildfire, having begun working for the startup in 2011, immediately after graduating from Claremont McKenna College. Her paychecks will now presumably be paid by her brother's biggest rival.

Arielle apparently learned of her new Googler status while on a trip to Israel. She posted the news on her Facebook page, saying, "I'm in Israel on Birthright and I just found out that I'm now a Google employee. Not gonna lie ... This feels pretty awkward, but I also feel very proud to be a part of the Wildfire team on this exciting day."

While in Israel, Arielle met with President Shimon Peres, who promptly updated his Facebook page to say, “I greatly respect the Zuckerberg family not only for their creativity but also for the strong tradition which is firmly in their hearts. I am proud of Arielle, all her friends who have come with her to Israel, and all the participants who take part in Taglit-Birthright,” the Forward reported.

According to Business Insider, that's not all. Zuckerberg's brother-in-law, Harry Schmidt, also works as a product strategist at Wildfire. His wife, Donna Zuckerberg, is another of Mark's sisters.

This situation prompted the remaining Zuckerberg sister, Randi, to tweet the following words of congratulations: "Congrats Wildfire! There are officially now more Zuckerberg family members working for Google than Facebook! #awkward ;)." Randi, the eldest Zuckerberg sibling, previously worked for Facebook before becoming a reality show producer.

Wildfire, which allows advertisers to market products on various social networks, including both Facebook and Google Plus, was purchased for a reported $250 million, but according to various estimates the price tag may have been closer to $400 million.
