Dozens of diplomats, politicians and businesspeople arrived at the European Parliament in Brussels on Thursday to discover a part of Jerusalem that is usually not in the headlines: the city's business model. EJA General Director Rabbi Menachem Margolin said the conference was a success. "Europe is keen on learning and implementing the Jerusalem high-tech model," he said. "This [interest] is not something you see everyday in the European Parliament. I am hopeful that this event will help parliamentarians identify more with Israel and that this will be of great contribution to the relations between the two sides."
The Jerusalem Conference, organized by the European Jewish Association in conjunction with the city's municipality and other bodies, made quite an impression.
"We usually forget to talk about the real Israel -- the people, the culture, and of course, the Israeli innovation that changed the lives of many people all over the world," said German MEP Arne Gericke. "Israel is an innovation and creativity hub. Here in Europe we have a lot to learn from it."
