Yossi Gino, the "Israeli James Bond" who served in the elite Sayeret Matkal military unit and later in the Israeli Mossad, left his widow and three daughters in a precarious predicament when he died six months ago. They are about to lose their home in Migdal over a debt of 1.8 million shekels ($510,000). Gino's youngest daughter, Noa, told Israel Hayom last week that "I lost my father in this war. Please help me so that I don't lose my mother too. Unless someone helps us, we will lose our home." Noa has vowed to do everything in her power to protect her mother from homelessness. "This house has been a home to three generations of fighters. This is a house that welcomed my father, covered in dust, when he came back from operations deep within enemy territory. He dedicated 30 years of his life to defending this state and protecting its citizens. Former IDF chief and minister Rafael Eitan told a court 25 years ago that 'a large number of Israelis owe their lives to Yossi.'" Earlier this month, the family launched a crowdfunding initiative online in a last-ditch effort to save the house. So far, 470,000 shekels ($130,000) have been donated, but the family is still far from reaching its goal of raising the necessary 1.2 million shekels ($340,000). "This is an opportunity for those who love Israel in the Diaspora to show gratitude and prevent a disgrace," Noa said. To contribute to Yossi Gino's family, click here.
