The Israel Coins and Medals Corp. unveiled the commemorative medal honoring the late President Shimon Peres in a ceremony held at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation in Jaffa on Wednesday. The commemorative medal bears Peres' likeness and Israel's state emblem, along with his name and the words "Man of Vision and Deed" in both Hebrew and English. The back of the medal displays a depiction of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation and a dove with an olive branch, as well as the following quote from Peres about Israel's founding: "The State of Israel is not a miracle, it is the realization of a vision." Artist Ruben Nutels designed the medal, which was manufactured in Israel and is available in three limited editions of gold, silver and bronze. Upon presenting Peres' son Nehemia with the medal, the head of the ICMC, Arthur Boxer, said he was honored to grant him "the first medal of the ninth president of the State of Israel, Shimon Peres." Boxer noted that the process of designing the medal had been particularly exciting for them in that Peres' life's work served as "the inspiration for the medal."
