Three years after the death of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, a state ceremony was held at Sycamore Ranch (the Sharon family ranch) in southern Israel on Friday to honor his memory.

President Reuven Rivlin and his wife Nechama, ministers and MKs, relatives, friends and acquaintances of Sharon, as well as people who never knew him but who treasure his memory were all in attendance at the ceremony, which also honored Sharon's late wife, Lily.

"Three years have passed since we accompanied Arik to his final resting place. To the hill where Lily, whom he so loved, was buried. The people who were loving and pleasant in life weren't separated in death," Rivlin said in his eulogy.

"Here, on Anemone Hill, facing the home at the heart of the ranch, Lily and Arik have found their resting place, as if to say, we have nothing but the land of our lives," the president said.

The Sharons' son Gilad also addressed the audience. He read a poem to his father's memory.
