Journalist Tatiana Hoffman, Channel 2 News senior international affairs editor, died on Monday after suffering a cardiac arrest at her home in Jerusalem. She was 69 years old.

Prague-born Hoffman began her media career in 1964, as a broadcaster on Czechoslovakian state radio. She came to Israel in 1968, after having won an Israeli Journalists Association award. While she was in Israel, the Soviet Union invaded Czechoslovakia and the subsequent crackdown on reformists left her unable to return.

Hoffman decided to remain is Israel. She earned a degree in political science from Hebrew University, and shortly afterward joined Israel Radio as its foreign news correspondent, eventually becoming the editor of its daily newscast. She joined Channel 2 News in 1993, shortly after the new commercial channel went on the air.

"It is with great sadness that we announce that our friend and colleague, Tatiana Hoffman, has passed away," Channel 2 News said in a statement. "She was one of the first journalists to join the news division and was one of the most revered and loved senior correspondents synonymous with Channel 2 News."

Channel 2 News CEO Avi Weiss eulogized Hoffman.

"Tatiana's life story is one of bravery, courage and determination. Tatiana was one of the news division's most revered and loved members. She was a model of diligence, professionalism and endless erudition. She was loved not only by the Channel 2 News staff, but by her audience as well. We all mourn the passing of a dear and beloved friend. We will remember her always."

Hoffman is survived by her mother, three children and partner.
