Israel Hayom columnist and former Australian Jewish community leader Isi Leibler received an honorary doctorate from Bar-Ilan University on Tuesday. In a statement, the university commended Leibler as "an ardent supporter of the State of Israel, who has spared no effort in taking on the challenges facing the Jewish nation -- from campaigning for Soviet Jewry in the 1970s to confronting the calls for a boycott against Israel today." "His contribution to Bar-Ilan University, including a unique and extensive collection of Jewish literature, exemplifies the respect he has for Jewish heritage and his deep commitment to the Jewish people's legacy as the 'People of the Book,'" the university statement said.
