New Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev (Likud) has ordered her staff to look into the possibility of moving the ministry's headquarters from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. In 2007, the government decided that all ministries operating outside Jerusalem must move to the capital within eight years, but implementation of that decision has proved to be problematic. The Culture and Sport Ministry is currently located on Tel Aviv's Hamasger Street. Regev, fifth on the Likud list in the March election, is a former IDF spokeswoman who is now serving as a minister for the first time. She was first elected to the Knesset in 2009.
