After receiving a personal invitation from Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, President Shimon Peres is expected to make the first state visit by an Israeli official to Vietnam next week. Peres is leading a delegation of representatives from leading Israeli companies in the fields of defense, infrastructure, communications, finance, high-tech, hydraulic technology and agriculture. The delegation is also set to include Science and Technology Minister Daniel Hershkowitz and Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Orit Noked. Among the business leaders in the delegation are Delek Group owner Yitzhak Tshuva; Strauss dairy group founder Micky Strauss; Israel Military Industries President Avi Felder; Elbit Systems President Joseph Ackerman; Marathon Telecom Director Hezi Bezalel; Mekorot Water Company Board Chairman Alex Wiznitzer; and Manufacturers' Association of Israel President Shraga Brosh. Israel and Vietnam established diplomatic relations in July 1993. The Israeli delegation's visit comes at a time of increased cooperation between the two countries. Israel's exports to Vietnam have tripled over the last two years.
