Employees of the Knesset are objecting to acting Knesset Speaker Amir Peretz's decision to cancel the Passover vacation.

The Knesset workers' union wrote to Knesset Director-General Ronen Plot on Sunday, saying that employees at the Knesset were not permitted to use vacation days accrued during the Knesset session, so canceling the Passover holiday would affect them adversely.

"The workers' union will not agree to any change in the work policies without holding official talks on the matter," the letter said.

The employees wrote to protest Peretz's statement that "it's unreasonable that the Knesset, which hasn't been in operation for three months already, will go on vacation now."

The Likud party, meanwhile, is making an effort to ensure that the reappointment of former Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein (Likud) be approved at the opening session of the 20th Knesset.
