"Seinfeld," one of television's most successful and longest-running comedies, was called "a show about nothing," but according to President Shimon Peres, who hosted Seinfeld" star Jason Alexander at his official residence on Tuesday, the show can also be seen as an allegory for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Peres was hosting leaders from the OneVoice Initiative, which is headed by Alexander. The OneVoice Initiative is an international grass-roots movement seeking to push a two-state solution by offering a voice to the mainstream Israeli and Palestinian. Alexander has long been a prominent public supporter of the organization and came to Israel as its official representative in hopes of promoting a two-state solution. It was decreed upon us to live here, Palestinians and Israelis, next to each other. If we neglect all of our options for peace, we will leave our children the inheritance of war, violence and bloodshed," Peres said to Alexander. Turning to the actor, he added, Please allow me to call you George. In the television show 'Seinfeld,' you and Jerry Seinfeld actually have a reality of two states for two peoples. What is your suggestion for promoting peace in the Middle East-" Alexander responded, "George and Jerry Seinfeld are, as you say, two separate worlds and it is very difficult for them to have a relationship. But I suggest you not give up, despite the disappointments, and continue trying to promote peace."
