An Israeli businessman was stopped on Monday at Ben-Gurion International Airport on suspicion that he sold hang gliders to Iranians.

Authorities believe that Anatoly Cohn, CEO of professional hang gliding equipment company APCO Aviation, sold hang gliders designed for long-distance gliding to Iranian residents. During questioning, Cohn admitted to being in contact with a person from Iran to whom he tried to sell hang gliders.

A military expert said the kind of hang gliders discussed would allow a person and tens of pounds of equipment to glide for miles.

Cohn allegedly attempted to transfer four such hang gliders to Iran, obscuring the final destination by transferring the hang gliders to Jordan and the United Arab Emirates under the guise of physical training equipment. The deal was supposed to take place in Bulgaria.

Cohn was arrested at the airport after arriving in Israel from Basel, Switzerland. After being questioned, Cohn said he had been taken by surprise.

"I am very surprised by this whole ordeal. It comes as a total shock. I believe this is a misunderstanding," he said.

Cohn was released on bail and is prohibited from speaking with any Iranians. He will likely be indicted soon. Authorities are conducting searches of his offices. Two other suspects were taken for questioning.
