Judea and Samaria Division Commander Brig. Gen. Tamir Yadai has barred all soldiers in Judea and Samaria from using the Waze navigation app while in the region, as the it does not differentiate between the areas Israelis are and are not allowed to enter. The Waze application does not delineate Area A, where only Palestinians are allowed, the shared Area B, and the Israeli-controlled Area C. Yadai's order came after a soldier erroneously entered the Palestinian city of Nablus into the app, while driving to meet a friend at an observation post. "Waze doesn't mark what is allowed and what is not, and people driving with the app can find themselves in all kinds of places," a senior officer in the Judea and Samaria Division told Israel Hayom, adding that the military's main concern is such an incident "may have disastrous results."
