Israel Hayom acquires its own printing press

On Sunday, Israel Hayom acquired the print house that formerly belonged to the Maariv newspaper. The acquisition is an important step towards the continued strengthening of the newspaper as the country's leading media outlet. It reflects the newspaper's success with the public, the constantly increasing demand for copies, and its transformation into Israel's most-read newspaper.

In a statement, the newspaper's management said: "The printing press will give the newspaper independence and flexibility in everything connected to its future development, and to the services it will provide readers and advertisers. It will allow the newspaper to print and distribute more copies, diversifying the sections of the newspapers and offering new services, without restriction."

Israel Hayom acquired the print house from the Amos Maimon Group, which had acquired it from a court-appointed trustee in the Maariv case, accountant Shlomo Nes.

The seller was represented by attorney Arnon Cohen of the office of Goldfarb Zeligman and Partners, as well as the office of Shuv and partners. Israel Hayom was represented throughout the transaction by the law office of Eitan Mehulal and Sado and the law office of Horovitz, Even, Uzan & Co.

In tandem, Israel Hayom will continue to develop a variety of digital platforms and products, including the Israel Hayom website, as well as mobile device applications.

The acquisition of the print house will create many new jobs for print workers, distribution workers and print service professionals.

"Israel Hayom extends a special thanks to the Bat Yam municipality, which welcomed the acquisition, reopening the dozens-of-years-old printing house and breathing new life into the municipal industrial zone," the management's statement said.

After the deal was signed on Sunday, Israel Hayom publisher Asher Baharav said: "Just as we promised when we established [Israel Hayom], we are moving forward according to the business plan, setting milestones. Today, we made significant progress, and I want to thank Dr. Miriam and Sheldon Adelson for backing us and putting faith in the newspaper's future."

Bat Yam Municipality Director-General Erez Podmasky-Shaked said, "We welcome the move and wish Israel Hayom success. Bat Yam's commercial center is enjoying increasing demand and the beneficial close proximity to Tel Aviv, major transportation arteries like Route 20, Route 1, and the Israel Railways and coastal highway. We expect the trend to continue and the commercial sector to transform into the Soho of the area."
