The Judea Military Court on Monday sentenced a terrorist who killed an Israeli hiker and wounded another to two consecutive life terms, or 60 years, in prison.

Fatah operative Mohammed Abu Shahin, who shot Danny Gonen and Netanel Hadad on June 19, 2015 near Dolev, northwest of Jerusalem, was convicted of Gonen's murder and the attempted murder of Hadad.

He was further ordered to pay 3.5 million shekels ($910,000) in damages to his victims.

Shahin was also convicted of 13 counts of attempted manslaughter, over a series of failed shooting attacks he carried out between April 2014 and July 2015.

"The defendant embarked on a killing spree during which he tried, time and again, to kill civilians and soldiers for the sole reason of being Jewish," the court ruled.
