Photos of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a mustache in the style of Adolf Hitler were hung on the walls of the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design Thursday. The incident follows controversy sparked earlier this week over posters picturing Netanyahu next to a hangman's noose The illustrated mustache was reportedly formed from the Hebrew word for "incitement." Politicians across the spectrum strongly condemned the latest posters. One Shenkar student told the Israel National News website about the incident: "I arrived at the college this morning, and I saw a picture of Bibi [a nickname for Netanyahu] with a Hitler mustache and the word 'incitement,' and it really hurt me. I think they crossed a line." The student explained that since the firestorm over the original anti-Netanyahu poster with the hangman's noose posted at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, students at Shenkar had been seeking ways to show solidarity with their fellow art students, who they felt were being unfairly targeted and silenced. She compared the anti-Netanyahu imagery to those published against late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin leading up to his 1995 assassination, noting that in both cases, the posters were inappropriate. At Bezalel, classes were halted for a two-hour period, wherein students on both campuses claimed that protest against artists and their works is a form of silencing creative expression. The Shenkar administration issued a statement saying, "The students at Shenkar are joining the protest against the overreaction to the work shown at Bezalel. The administration understands the students' anger."
