Kobi Ifrach, 20, from the northern Israeli town of Zikhron Yaakov, became the first Israeli bodybuilder to win the Mr. Universe title in the under-22 junior division since it was introduced, in 1988. The international bodybuilding competition, held in Birmingham, the U.K., earlier this week, has been organized by the National Amateur Bodybuilders Association for the past 67 years. One of the competition's most famous winners is Hollywood star and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. "It is an amazing feeling to wrap myself in the Israeli flag," Ifrach told local media. Yonni Hanna, president of NABBA in Israel presented Ifrach with the trophy. Hanna himself is a past winner of the Mr. Universe title in the "tall" category. Ifrach said he got into bodybuilding thanks to his older brothers, who were amateur bodybuilders. Commenting about his training routine, he said, "I have been training 24 hours a day for many years. Training means following a tight schedule -- eating every hour and a half and not drinking water at all on some days."
