The interest of North American Jews in aliyah shot upward during Operation Protective Edge this summer and the following weeks, says Nefesh B'Nefesh, an organization that facilitates the arrival and integration of American and Canadian immigrants on behalf of the Jewish Agency for Israel. The Nefesh B'Nefesh portal, where prospective immigrants fill our their details and begin the process of aliyah, saw 141 percent more traffic in July-September compared with the same period the previous year. Nefesh B'Nefesh said the number of new applications it began processing during that period was 62 percent higher compared to the same period in 2013. "The unprecedented surge in aliyah applications during the intense period of Operation Protective Edge attests to the high motivation among North Americans when it comes to moving to Israel and to their great contribution to Israeli society, on a security, political and socioeconomic level," Nefesh B'Nefesh Vice Chairman Erez Halfon said.
