Breaking the Silence, an Israeli advocacy group dedicated to exposing alleged wrongdoings by the Israel Defense Forces in Judea and Samaria, has come under intense criticism from the Israeli Right. The right-wing Zionist group Im Tirtzu accuses Breaking the Silence and other left-wing NGOs of being "plants" of foreign governments, and has launched a campaign to curtail their activities. The government is also scrutinizing the organization more closely. Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon has stopped it from participating in military activities, Education Minister Naftali Bennett has banned it from schools, and even some opposition politicians, such as Yair Lapid, have strongly criticized the group's methods. Meanwhile, a number of retired generals and other prominent figures have expressed support for the organization, which they see as strengthening the IDF and making an important contribution to Israeli society. In this episode of Israel Hayom Insider, Lital Shemesh speaks with Opinion Editor Steve Ganot and columnist Ruthie Blum about the controversy. Anchor: Lital Shemesh. Camera: Doron Persaud.
