Pro-Palestinian website claims it posted photos of IAF pilots

Pro-Palestinian website publishes a list of people it claims are Israel Air Force pilots • Website authors say those exposed are war criminals • IDF Spokesperson's Unit: The list has many errors.

A pro-Palestinian website claims it posted the photos and names of Israel Air Force pilots on Thursday. Among the air force personnel, authors of the page claim to have exposed, is an officer with the rank of brigadier-general.

On the website, the authors say those they exposed are war criminals. Along with the photos, the site lists the alleged pilots' names, ranks, dates of birth and identity numbers.

On the main page of the site, the authors wrote that despite Israel's strength, its weakness lies with its people, who they say are absolutely vulnerable.

According to those who published the content on the site, Israeli pilots chose to use their skills to bring about mass destruction in towns and villages throughout the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Lebanon, and the material they published is meant to unveil their anonymity and help to bring them to justice.

An IDF spokesman said on Thursday that the information listed on the website is "full of errors."

The defense establishment, particularly the Israel Defense Forces, has invested vast resources in the field of cyberwarfare. The IDF's teleprocessing branch is responsible for cyberdefense, while Military Intelligence is responsible for cyberoffense.

The IDF takes especially meticulous precautions to prevent the exposure of names and photographs of soldiers who serve in classified units such as Sayeret Matkal (the General Staff Reconnaissance Unit), Israel Air Force and others. For years, the army has deemed the issue to be of the utmost importance and the Israeli Military Censor's Office forbids the publication of such information for fear that it could damage state security.

The IDF forbids, for example, soldiers from publishing details about their military service on social media websites such as Facebook, and regularly instructs units on how to protect information from being leaked.
