Three Palestinian-owned cars were set alight Tuesday night in the village of Deir Istiya in central Samaria, and graffiti was scrawled on the village's mosque, according to news reports. Army Radio reports that the words "Price Tag -- Gal Aryeh Yosef," the name of an illegal settlement outpost demolished early Tuesday morning, were spray-painted onto the mosque. No arrests have been made. The incident took place in Deir Istiya, a village 5 kilometers southwest of Nablus between Ariel and Karnei Shomron. "Three settlers came in a red car with Israeli plates around 1:40 a.m. and wrote 'price tag' on the wall of the mosque," village council head Nathmi Salman Abu Nawwab told Agence France Presse. "They poured liquid on the cars and set them alight then they quickly drove off on a road heading towards Immanuel [a nearby settlement]." He said the incident had been witnessed by several villagers. Israeli military and police forces, who arrived at the scene after being called by residents of the village, saw three burned cars and graffiti on the mosque's walls. The incident is being treated as a suspected price-tag attack, Army Radio reported Wednesday. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said investigators were treating it as "a criminal incident with nationalist motives," a reference to a "price-tag" attack, AFP reported. Gal Aryeh Yosef was established in the memory of the Fogel family, who were brutally murdered in their sleep in the settlement of Itamar. The outpost is inhabited by Yedia Shoham, a known right-wing activist, who was released from prison last week after being arrested on suspicion of being involved in the break-in to the Israel Defense Forces Ephraim Brigade headquarters last month. Wednesday morning's incident caps a growing list of suspected "price tag" attacks against Palestinian and IDF property in Judea and Samaria over the past several months, as the state carries out court-ordered demolitions of illegal outposts.
