The 2017-2018 state budget is expected to give the president, Knesset members and judges a 2.5% salary increase, Israel Hayom learned Sunday. The salaries paid to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and all other government ministers will remain unchanged. The Knesset House Committee, headed by Likud MK Yoav Kisch, is expected to vote on the pay raises in the biennial budget proposal next week. The budget provides a pay raise of between 1,000 and 1,480 shekels ($260-$386) per month for the president, MKs and judges, effective from January 2017. President Reuven Rivlin is expected to receive a raise of NIS 1,480, bringing his monthly salary to NIS 60,768 ($16,000), while MKs will receive a raise of NIS 1,000 each, bringing their salaries to NIS 41,525 ($10,900). Knesset committee chairmen will receive a raise of NIS 1,500 to NIS 43,000. Opposition Leader Isaac Herzog (Zionist Union) is expected to get a raise of NIS 1,225 to reach NIS 47,825 ($12,500) per month. Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein will receive a similar raise, bringing his monthly salary up to NIS 50,225. Judges can expect a raise of NIS 1,120. Chief Justice Miriam Naor's new salary will rise to NIS 45,932. The prime minister's salary will remain unchanged at NIS 47,485 ($12,400), half of which pays for his armored vehicle. Ministers' and deputy ministers' salaries will also remain the same, at NIS 43,534 and NIS 40,525 respectively. While the 2016 budget pegged overall spending on the salaries of the 120 Knesset members at NIS 163.2 million ($42.7 million), MKs' salaries are expected to amount to NIS 163.9 million ($43 million) in 2017, and NIS 166.2 million ($43.5 million) in 2018. The prime minister's and ministers' salaries, which are linked to the consumer price index, will remain unchanged for the fourth consecutive year due to deflation.
