American journalist accuses Israeli colleague of sexual harassment

In article encouraging women to share their experiences with sexual assault, Jewish Journal reporter Danielle Berrin alleges that an accomplished Israeli journalist "grabbed and groped and pulled" her when she tried to interview him in a hotel lobby.

Jewish Journal reporter Danielle Berrin has accused an Israeli journalist of sexual harassment. In an article titled "My sexual assault, and yours: Every woman's story," posted last week on the journal's website, Berrin recounted the assault in detail.

"I'd agreed to meet him, an accomplished journalist from Israel, at his hotel around 10 p.m. He was in the United States only for 48 hours, and told me he was completely booked during the daytime. Back then, the book he'd written was among several titles having an impact on the Jewish conversation, and many local community leaders wanted to meet with him. If I was going to be a part of this conversation, this was my opportunity. But almost as soon as I arrived and placed my recorder on the table between us, he put our interview on hold," Berrin wrote.

She described the reporter's attempts to have sex with her as less than subtle.

"He lurched at me like a barnyard animal, grabbing the back of my head, pulling me toward him."

Berrin then told the man she did not understand his behavior; she thought he was happily married and had children. To which he replied, "Yes, and I'm not done yet." He then tried to convince her to come up to his room "just for a minute."

According to Berrin, he insisted on walking her to her car "despite my protestations" and "groped and grabbed and pulled" her.

In her article, Berrin encouraged women to share their experiences with sexual assault.

"My story is not unique. Every woman -- probably every single woman in this world -- knows the feeling I felt walking to my car at night with a man who couldn't keep his hands to himself."
