Despite the unseasonable heat wave, over 200,000 Israelis spent the two days off for Rosh Hashanah at the country's national parks and nature reserves. On Tuesday, sites operated by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority welcomed 100,000 visitors. Particularly popular destinations were Caesarea National Park and Yarkon-Tel Afek National Park, each of which received over 4,000 visitors. Other sites that saw heavy visitor traffic were Beit Guvrin National Park, home to ancient graves, where the INPA holds kite-flying activities; the Ein Gedi reserve near the Dead Sea; Ashkelon National Park; and the Stalactite Cave nature reserve. Jewish National Fund forests and park sites also saw plenty of visitors over Monday and Tuesday.
