Israel's rhythmic gymnastics team takes gold in Baku

Gymnastics World Cup finals see Israeli national team win first place in ribbon exercise, silver medal in the all-around competition • Gymnast Neta Rivkin wins bronze medal in ball exercise • Baku meet the team's last competition before Rio Games.

Israel's national rhythmic gymnastics team won several medals, including gold, in the International Federation of Gymnastics World Cup finals, held over the weekend in Baku, Azerbaijan. This was the team's last international competition before flying to the Rio Olympic Games.

Team members Yuval Filo, Alona Koshevatskiy, Ekaterina Levina, Karina Lykhvar, and Ida Mayrin, won the gold medal in the ribbon exercise Sunday, while Russia took the silver medal and Spain won the bronze.

Competing in the clubs and hoops finals on Sunday, the Israeli team finished fourth.

The team won the silver medal on Saturday, this time in the all-around competition.

The win followed a bronze medal won by Neta Rivkin finished third in the ball exercise. Rivkin, perhaps the most prominent rhythmic gymnast in the team, is slated to represent Israel in the rhythmic gymnastics individual competition in Rio -- her third Olympic Games.
