Foreign Ministry offers cash prizes for best videos promoting Israel

Foreign Ministry announces first-of-its-kind international public diplomacy video competition • "Israel is moving from defense to offense in public diplomacy," says Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely, the initiator of the competition.

The Foreign Ministry on Monday announced a first-of-its-kind international public diplomacy video competition, with cash prizes for the winners.

The competition is an initiative of Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud).

"Israel is moving from defense to offense in public diplomacy," Hotovely said.

"Since I started my job at the Foreign Ministry, I've met many Israelis who want to contribute to public diplomacy. This contest marks the first time we are mobilizing all of those who simply want to help the public diplomacy effort.

"I think this is a great opportunity for many citizens of Israel and all those around the world who love Israel and want to contribute their talent to change the public discourse and thus contribute to improving the status of Israel."

The competition includes two categories: a general category in which everyone can participate, and a professional category open to companies active in the realm.

The videos must be no more than a minute long, and must deal with a number of predetermined issues, including Jerusalem and false Palestinian propaganda.

At the end of the competition, the winners will be declared at a festive ceremony at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Jerusalem. The amount of the cash prizes will be in the tens of thousands of shekels.
