Facing criticism, Walmart drops IDF Halloween costume

Walmart drops two costumes -- an IDF uniform and a "Sheikh Fagin" nose -- from its Halloween collection after they spark an online uproar • Pro-Palestinian activists fill Walmart Facebook page with criticism, including some calls for boycott of Walmart.

Walmart on Tuesday dropped two costumes -- an Israel Defense Forces uniform and a "Sheikh Fagin" nose -- from its Halloween collection after they sparked an online uproar.

Pro-Palestinian activists took issue with the IDF uniform and Walmart's Facebook page was filled with criticism, including some calls for a boycott of Walmart.

One online commenter wrote, "Your little one can now go to his friend's house, and take over their bedroom and all of their toys and claim that God has given him/her the right to take it. If the friend refuses, your little IDF soldier can respond with force, and if they fight back, claim anti-Semitism, the right to defend their new room full of God given toys and level the whole family and neighborhood block!"

The "Sheikh Fagin" nose, which Walmart marketed as "perfect for an Arab sheikh," was also the target of criticism.

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee expressed concern the nose would be used in "racist anti-Arab costumes."
