In puzzling move, 'showers' set up at Auschwitz to cool down visitors

Mist showers put in place at Auschwitz to help visitors cope with summer heat prompt social media outcry • Auschwitz museum management says it did not mean to hurt feelings of visitors and that placement of the showers would be reassessed going forward.

The management at the Auschwitz museum in Poland may have had good intentions when it decided to install mist showers at the museum's entrance to help tourists cope with the summer heat, but the showers have not struck a good chord with many visitors, including some from Israel.

Israel visitors to the museum could not ignore the connotation of showers being put in place at a site where more than a million Jews were murdered by the Nazis in gas chambers during the Holocaust.

After an outcry on social media networks, the Auschwitz museum management said it had not meant to hurt the feelings of visitors and that the placement of the showers would be reassessed going forward.
