Five Israel Defense Forces Paratroopers Brigade soldiers were reprimanded on Wednesday for filming a video of themselves dancing to Israel's entry for Eurovision song contest during a military operation in Judea and Samaria near the West Bank city of Jenin. The video, which garnered thousands of online views and wide media attention, was meant to be a tribute for the Israeli representative at the song contest, the young singer Nadav Guedj. The video shows four IDF soldiers re-enacting Guedj's dance moves from the song's chorus and comes to an end with the last verse of the song: "Let me show you Tel Aviv," as the soldier filming the tribute says: "What Tel Aviv-" with the camera showing the area behind him. "The video in question was made during a military operation. It has not only put lives in danger, but was also shot on an unauthorized mobile phone that was prohibited [during] this action. The paratroopers were not disciplined for the content of the video," the IDF Spokesman's Unit said. The soldiers were spared a prison sentence and were assigned a 21-day detention instead. A military source added that the soldiers had expressed regret for their irresponsible actions. The video was filmed near the security barrier during one of the breaks necessary in an operation of this kind.
