Madonna is planning to purchase a 214 million-shekel ($55.5 million) penthouse in the luxury Meier on Rothschild Tower in Tel Aviv, the British Daily Mail reported on Friday The 42-story tower, which features a panoramic sea view, private gym and swimming pool, was designed by the acclaimed architect Richard Meier, who also designed the Barcelona Museum of Art and the Getty Center in Los Angeles. Despite the British media reports, it is still unclear how serious negotiations are between Madonna and the Berggruen Residential company, which spearheaded the project. Madonna's interest in the project was supposedly sparked as early as 2013. The Daily Mail also reported that Israeli-born Academy Award winner Natalie Portman had also shown interest in buying an apartment in the building. Berggruen Residential declined to comment on the report, saying it was company policy to keep negotiations with potential buyers confidential.
