Despite the escalating security situation in Israel, 64 new immigrants from the U.S. arrived at Ben-Gurion International Airport earlier this week. The youngest among the group of immigrants was an 8-month-old baby and the oldest was a 92-year-old woman. The new Israeli citizens will live in Hadera, Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, Carmiel, Beersheba, Modiin, Nes Ziona, Raanana, Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv and Givat Shmuel. Becky Kupchan, a 26-year-old from Chicago, is moving to Beersheba. "Although the security situation in Israel is very tense right now, and in Beersheba where I'm about to move rockets are falling, I am not afraid," Kupchan said. "I trust the Israeli government and the IDF. I'm a Jew and I've always dreamed about making aliyah to Israel, my home. At home you always feel safe." The arrival of the group was organized by Nefesh B'Nefesh, the organization that facilitates immigration to Israel from North America and the United Kingdom. Erez Halfon, the vice chairman of Nefesh B'Nefesh, said, "Olim who chose to move to Israel during tough times like now are true heroes. Each of them fills our hearts with pride and great optimism."
